One of the most disappointing things I learned this year was that “My Bloody Valentine 3D” was not a documentary or a biopic of the dream pop/shoegazing/post-punk band, but a remake of an 80s Canadian slasher film. I’m also fairly sure that few people have experienced both the band and the film remake. I, myself, haven’t seen the movie and don’t plan on ever watching it.

In a similar vein, I’m surprised by the number of kids who hear the name “Franz Ferdinand” and thing that’s the name of one of the members of the Scottish New Wave band. (In actuality their names are Alex, Paul, Nick, and Bob.) The band is named after a horse named after the real Franz Ferdinand. It’s actually really fascinating if you’re even half as geeky as I am.

I’m sorry for going off on these odd tangents today, but one day when you’re desperate for topics at a cocktail party you’ll thank me.
