Few artists stick around long enough to release their 10th album let alone their 25th. Prince’s LOtUSFLOW3R released digitally on the 24th and the physical copy will be available on the 29th. While LOtUSFLOW3R is technically Prince’s 25th studio release, it goes beyond the realm of an ordinary CD since the album is really a 3 disc collection including MPLSoUND and Elixer (an album by his protege, Bria Valente).
Frankly, my poor college student wallet is nowhere near able to afford me the luxury of purchasing the 77 dollar 3 disc set available via Lotusflow3r.com as of yesterday. Those who can can absorb the funktastic musical wonders available as well as other goodies like Prince’s cover of Radiohead’s “Creep”, a free t-shirt, and early access to ticket sales in the LA area.
I’m going to have to wait for this to pass through the radio station, but if you get the chance to hear some samples, share your thoughts. To tide the rest of us over until then, here’s a snippet of Prince on The Tonight Show performing a song from MPLSoUND. He’ll be on there three nights in a row, so try to catch at least one performance.
